Playing with MDS

I've been playing with MDs for the last little while; mostly working on hybrid projects.  As I feel I have so much to learn I've been following a few blogs that focus on digital card-making or scrapping.   One of them is MDS Monday and their challenge this week was a card challenge.

Here's My Card...

This took me several hours and I could have made a paper card in a fraction of the time!   I definitely need more practice!. I had fun playing though.  I think I may actually print the Two by Two image and make a hybrid card using this layout too.

Christmas in July

Here's My Card for The Friday Mashup FM120. This week it's Christmas in July! I've been busy stamping over the last few days; part of the reason is that it is so much cooler in my basement craft room! I've played along with several challenges.  For this one I tried a technique shared a while ago by one of our Strawberry SUper Stampers.

Here's a close-up of the ornaments.

The next one is a Colour Challenge from Sunday Stamps (SSC55).  I haven't played along with them for a while, so it's about time I did.

Watercolour Trio Hybrid Card - Convention Swap

Here's My Card for my last group of Stampin' Up! Convention Swaps.  I've been playing with My Digital Studio at bit lately so decided to do a hybrid card.  I recently bought the download for Watercolour Trio so decided to use that.  The colours printed so true to the actual ink colour, I was really pleased.  Unfortunately my camera did not do the Rich Razzleberry justice.  I used two different colours and two of the stamps from the set.

Recipe:

Cardstock and Ink:  Whisper White and 1) Marina Mist 2) Rich Razzleberry
MDS Download: Watercolour Trio
Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes
DSP:  Polka Dot Parade
Accessories: 1) Basic Pearls 2) Rhinestones

Mr. & Mrs. - Convention Swap

Here's My Card for yet another Stampin' Up! Convention Swap.  It's a bit boring to make 100 of the same card so I decided to  mix it up; also, that way I won't use up my stock of one particular product.

I really love a soft, sublte card and often do them when making cards to give.  So, for this card I wanted a subtle effect for a wedding card, but also did want a little bit of colour so  I used one of the new colours SU added this year - Soft Sky.  It is a really pretty soft blue

Here's My Card:

Recipe:
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Soft Sky
Stamps:  Secret Garden, Banner Greetings Hostess Set, Mixed Bunch
Ink: Soft Sky, Illuminate (to get the soft watermark effect on the card)
Accessories: Basic Pearls
Tools:  Blossom Punch

Here's a closeup of the Illuminate:

Wild About Washi

Today I am in Salt Lake City getting ready for my first Stampin' Up Convention.  So excited!!!   So, in preparation I have been working on my swaps for the last few weeks, and I decided to play with the Washi Tape I'd had for a while but was still unopened.

Here's My Card:

I found a sketch that I had saved and thought it would look great with the Washi.   I was really happy with how the card turned out and am now in love with Washi!  I'll be ordering more for sure.

This card has a bit of a "grunge" look, which is not usually my style, but I think the combo of the Wasi and DSP give it that look.

I need to give a shout out to my friends at Catherine and Cathy Create (hopefully you have come here from there!) and thank them for asking me to be part of their new fun challenge blog!  If you have not been there yet, please check it out.

Here's my recipe:
Cardstock:  Basic Gray, Pool Party, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
Stamp Set: Sassy Salutations
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: This and That Epic Day Washi Tape and DSP, Finishing Touches Edgelit, Fashionable Hearts Embosslit.

Buttons and Bows

Here's My Card for my very first Design Team submission.  As I mentioned in my last post I have been asked to join the cards design team for a new challenge blog Catherine and Cathy Create.

This week we are doing cool cards with the theme Buttons and Bows.

The card needed to be closed for the best effect so you can see the clip I used to hold the card, sorry about that.    Here's the inside.

Recipe
Cardstock: Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
Ink: Tangerine Tango
Stamps: Sassy Salutations, Bring on the Cake
Accessories: Daffodil Delight Ribbon, White and Island Indigo Baker's Twine, Brights Buttons (this style of button just retired, but the colours are still current). 1" Punch.

Catherine and Cathy Create A New Challenge Blog.

I am so thrilled and honoured to be asked to be a part of a Design Team  for a brand new Challenge Blog called Catherine and Cathy Create.   And I get to put a brand new badge on my blog!

They will have lots of different challenges and teams so please drop by and check it out.  I will be part of the Cards team.
So to get started, and to play along, just for fun, I created a card for their first challenge, which was a Colour Challenge.  CCC # 1 , the July Colour Challenge, was to use Raspberry Ripple, Cool Cabana and Basic Black as inspired by this photo :

Here's My Card....

I cut a piece of Raspberry Ripple DSP from the Print Poetry DSP Pack (it looks a little red in this picture - sorry about that ), and used the Finishing Touches Edgelit to make the cute zigzag frame.  My new favourite sentiment set is Sassy Salutations; I stamped the Happy Birthday in Raspberry Ripple and then cut it out with the Ovals Collection Framelits.  I wanted a small Basic Black border to match the border around the card so I had to fussy cut that to get it the size I wanted. A few Coastal Cabana  butterflies stamped in Smokey Slate and then cut out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  Add some basic rhinestones for a little bling and it was done.
