Winter Birthday

It's been a while since I've played with any challenges and believe it or not, amid all the craziness of Christmas preparations I took some time to make a card for two challenges.

The first is The Friday Mash-up, FM139, one of my favourite challenges to play.
The challenge this week is to do a "winter" project with embossing.

The next is The Paper Players #176.  Their challenge is a white on white theme with a neutral or metallic.  I chose the metallic.

Here's my card:

Here are the details:

Paper: Whisper White, Silver
Stamp sets: Bring on the Cake, Flower Shop
Tools: Northern Flurry EF, Pansy Punch, Ovals Framelits, Mini Snowflake Punch
Ink: Platinum
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Silver Embossing Powder

HAPPY 60th

Today I wanted to show you a card I made recently for a friend celebrating her 60th birthday.

I wanted to keep it monotone so did everything in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.  I even sponged the doily with Crumb Cake.  The gold cut out 60 was also sponged with Crumb Cake to make it blend.  A few vintage brads and some chunky gold glitter tie it all together.

Snowflakes

I've been loving the new Festive Flurry stamp set and coordinating dies.  Originally I was disappointed that Stampin ' Up! just didn't bring out dies to match the snowflakes from last year, but once I saw the new set in use I had to have it!

In a recent class we made 6 cards (3 each of 2 designs) and a package tag, all using this stamp and die set.

Catching Up

Today I'm bringing  you cards we've done in a recent All Occasion Cards class.  These are all modifications of swap cards from Convention this past summer.

Button, Button...

Today's challenge over at Catherine and Cathy Create is to use buttons.  I am still working on Christmas cards for our upcoming Craft Market this Saturday so I put on my thinking cap to see what I could come up with.

Here's My Card:

I tried a new technique that I saw online somewhere that was called "glitter powder".  You mix Stampin' Up! embossing powder with SU glitter, and Voila!  a glittery embossed image.  The picture does not do the glittery image justice; it's so pretty! I used Cherry Cobbled embossing powder and gold glitter.

Here are the rest of the details:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
Stamps: Wonderful Wreath, Heard From the Heart
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Tools: Festive Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Big Shot, Windows Framelits
Accessories: Neutrals Buttons (R), Old Olive Ribbon (R)

Team Diabetes Fundraiser

I have been negligent in my blogging since I returned from London - and what a great time we had, by the way!  So I am going to try to get back on track with weekly posts from now on!  In addition there will always be a post on the 7th of each month for the Catherine and Cathy Create blog.

Today I wanted to show you the cards we made on Sunday at the fundraiser for Team Diabetes.  A good friends' daughter is participating in the 2014 run and asked me to help her with a Stampin' Up! fundraiser.  I am extremely happy to report we raised over $600.00!!!

Everybody made four cards and shared in some great prizes; it was definitely a fun afternoon!

Here For You

I've been working hard lately getting ready for a new Craft Market that my friend and I are putting together, (you can checkout our Facebook page here!), but I took a break from packaging cards today to make one.

I haven't played along with Mojo Monday for a while so I used their sketch.  I quite liked this one!

I also decided to play along with The Paper Players and their colour combo challenge.

I must admit that Rich Razzleberry is not a colour I use very much; which is why I decided to try this challenge.

Heres My Card...

Here are the details:
Cardstock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Basic Black
DSP : Razzleberry Lemonade (retired)
Tools: Framed Tulips Embossing Folder
Embellishments: Whisper White Baker's Twine, Rich Razzleberry Button
Stamp: Pretty Petites
Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Pretty Packages

I was wrapping a gift for a friend's birthday and decided to try the bow Shelli showed us at convention.

I used the Gift Bow Bigz L Die with some retired newsprint DSP, a bit of gold spritz spray, the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set with gold embossing powder, and voila!

Get Embossed!

Today's challenge over at Catherine and Caty Create is all about embossing. I used both dry and heat embossing on this card.  If you saw my last post you know I was playing with some parcel paper to make leaves. This card has a different take on them. Here's My Card:

Today's leaves were cut using the Autumn Accents Die, stamped with Fall Foliage (sadly, it's retired) and then embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and then a bit of Orange Glitter was added.  For the dry embossing I used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder on the card base, and the Pretty Print Embossing Folder on the accent piece.

Here's the rest of the details:
Cardstock - Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze
DSP - Sweater Weather
Accessories  - Brads
Stamp Set - Day of Gratitude (retired)

Fall Thanksgiving

Today I decided to play along with The Paper Players and their challenge to create a Fall themed card.  I had just wrapped a gift using brown paper - the kind you use to wrap a parcel - and there was an end piece laying on my table.

So I was thinking I should be able to use that and decided to sponge a piece all over.  I used Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip.

I put the full piece through the Big Shot with the Autumn Accents die and voila!

Here's My Card:

Here's the rest of the details:
Cardstock - Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze
DSP- Well Worn (retired)
Stamp Set - Day of Gratitude (retired)
Accessories - Brads
Tools - Distressing Tool, Pretty Print Embossing Folder

Come back on Saturday to see another take on this card!

Back To School

Here's my card for the next challenge, one of my favourite challenge to try and that's the Friday Mashup!
There is always two options at the Mashup, of course I usually try to do both.  This week it's a back to school theme.  I can honestly say I don't miss the craziness of back to school, it's been a long time since I've had to deal with that!  Here's the challenge:

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with the "Sketch Liliana created."
  2. Create a project with a "School Theme (books, pencils, rulers, numbers, etc."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "School themed project using Liliana's Sketch. "

I mixed up the sketch a bit,  Here's My Card:

Here's the details:
Cardstock: Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla, Basic Grey
DSP: Birthday Basics
Stamps: Greeting Card Kids (R), Measuring Stick Stampin' Around Builder Wheel
Ink:  Basic Grey, Black Stazon, Primrose Petals and Strawberry Slush Markers
Accessories: Neutrals Brads

Grade 4!

Happy Thursday everyone, tomorrow begins a long weekend for most - I hope everyone has a great Labour Day Weekend!

I've been busy in my craft room getting ready for some Christmas classes , but also took a little time to play along in a few challenges.

The first was a sketch challenge from The Paper Players .  I wanted to make a card for someone going back to school, so this sketch came in handy.

I used the Chevron embossing folder with Pool Party Core'dinations cardstock in keeping with the theme over at Catherine and Cathy Create coming up on Sept. 1st.  The card base is Tangerine Tango, and the accents are This and That Washi Tape.  The Stamp Set is retired, but one I can't give up, called Take A Spin.   I printed the words with the new Chalk Marker.  Quick and easy!
