French Script Background

Here's my card with a few variations.  This is a card I've been wanting to try for some time; it is CASE'd from Jeanne Streiff.

I was having trouble deciding on colours for this card so I randomly selected a page from the Colour Coach and it suggested Gumball Green, Melon Mambo and So Saffron.  The background is stamped with French Script, which I think is a predecessor to En Francais.  The flower is from Bordering on Romance, coloured with markers, with an additional flower cut out and added with a glue dot to add some dimension.  The ribbon is Victorian Lace Crochet Trim and the sentiment is from Tiny Tags. I added a little sponging with Sahara Sand to "antique" it a bit.  The flower image and the "hello" are sponged with So Saffron. Mini pearls were added on the flowers.

So after I was finished, I wasn't sure if I liked it so I decided to change a few things, and came up with this slightly different one:

Can you see the difference?  I stamped off the background before I stamped the cardstock so that softened the green a little. This time I painted the flowers using ink and an Aqua Painter.  I also distressed all the edges and added a bit more Sahara Sand sponging than on the original.  I think I like this one better.  Here is a close up on the flower.

Beau Chateau

Here's my card just for fun.  I've been on a card making frenzy this week as I have been away for so long I need to catch up.  I am working on cards for my upcoming Stampin' Up Open House, so the next few posts are some of these cards.  Here is two takes on one card.

These cards were CASE'd from Julie Buhler; I love her work but she is not posting much lately.  The DSP is Beau Chateau, cardstock is Very Vanilla, Soft Suede and Pink Pirouette. The flowers were made using the Boho Blossoms punch and the Little Leaves Sizzlit die. The sentiments are from Occasional Quotes and God's Blessings and cut out after running through the Big Shot with the Designer Frames embossing folders.  The butterfly was made with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit die. The ribbon is Very Vanilla.

and here is the sketch:

The dotted paper and the shimmer paper used on the flower are by Recollections.  The stamps are Build a Blossom and Petit Pairs from Stampin' Up.  The punches are also by Stampin' Up; they are the Blossom Builder and the 1 3/4 Scallop Circle. Ribbon was from my stash.

Gifts of Christmas...yes, Christmas!

Here's my card for Merry Monday # 25 a challenge sketch.  I think part of the challenge is getting into Christmas in June, lol!

Here is the sketch:

Stamps are Gifts of Christmas and Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Cardstock is Whisper White and Riding Hood Red. The cut-out behind the image was made with the Large Paper Doily Sizzlit.  The circle was cut with the 21/2" punch.  The ribbon is (retired) Riding Hood Red.  All those items are by Stampin' Up.  In addition I used a Culltebug embossing folder and Tsukineko Sheer Shimmer Spritz, but I don't think you can really see the shimmer in the photo.

Punched Blossom

Here's my card for Freshly Made Sketches #40.  I've been working on some cards to use as invitations to my upcoming Stampin' Up Open House so I thought I'd use some sketches as inspiration.  I'll be posting them over the next few days.

I took a little different approach to the sketch by cutting out the focal point rather that adding it on to the front of the card.  I saw this idea somewhere else, (and I wish I could remember so I could give credit), and thought this would be a good sketch to try it out on.  Here is the sketch.

The cardstock used was Whisper White and Pacific Point, the DSP is from Beyond the Garden.  The embossing folder is called Stripes, the stamp set is Mixed Bunch and used with the Blossom Punch. The Ribbon Punch was also used. The sentiments are from Loving Thoughts and Occasional Quotes (inside). All by Stampin' Up.  Here are a few more shots of this card, as well as another version.

WEDDING TRIO

Well, after almost three months of travels I am back home - and glad to be here!  I had a great trip to Jamaica with my sister, then went to Toronto for a meeting and stayed to spend the weekend with a friend, then it was off to New Brunswick for 6 weeks to be with my daughter and her family as they welcomed their second child, a little girl, on April 24th.  To top it off I headed off to Florida with my husband for two weeks.  All the travels were great; but it's true what they say "there's no place like home!"

One of the things I missed the most was my craft room.  I've been doing some cleaning up in preparation for my open house to introduce the new Stampin' Up catalogue.  I'm planning to offer my retired sets as a BOGO - buy one retired set and get merchandise of equal value from the new catalogue.

I am also glad to get back to trying some challenges to get my creative juices flowing again; so today I made a card for two challenges:

The Paper Players 100th Challenge Celebration

and Mojo Monday 246

WEDDING TRIO

The Paper Players folks asked participants to choose their favourite challenge from the 100 they have produced so far; well how can you choose a favourite, they are all so great.  So, I started looking through them and as I needed inspiration I started looking at the "inspiration challenges".  Almost immediately I found this one.

It is Challenge number 17 LeAnne's Inspiration Challenge. LeAnne created this challenge after she had a new granddaughter, so now that I have a new granddaughter too it was a perfect fit.

The dress image is from Stampin' Up's Love & Laughter set, embossed with Melon Mambo on Basic Black.  The other 3 images, also embossed, are from a set I had on hand but I cannot remember the name (and it is no longer in the package).  The card is also Melon Mambo with Whisper White as the frames.  The ribbon is Organza Whisper White, also from Stampin' Up.  The inside flourish is done with the Versa Mark pad and is from a Stampendous set called Monarch.

I hope you enjoy,

Tiz.
